WHAT WE BELIEVE

What we believe

Our Statement of Faith summarizes the essential doctrines taught in Holy Scripture and confessed by Gospel for the Nations Church. It serves as the doctrinal foundation for our preaching, teaching, membership, worship, and ministry. We believe that Christian fellowship is deepest where there is unity in the truth of God's Word.

Doctrinal Heritage

At Gospel for the Nations Church, we joyfully stand alongside our brothers and sisters in Christ throughout the ages by affirming the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed. We also recognize the Second London Baptist Confession of Faith (1689), the New Hampshire Baptist Confession (1853), and the Baptist Faith & Message (2000) as faithful historical summaries of biblical doctrine.

Above all, we affirm that the Holy Scriptures alone are our final and supreme authority in all matters of faith and practice.

God

We believe in one eternal God, existing in three Persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator, Sustainer, and sovereign Lord over all things, worthy of all worship, honor, and obedience.

The Scriptures

We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and sufficient Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, worship, and Christian living.

Humanity and Sin

We believe humanity was created in the image of God but fell into sin through disobedience. Every person is therefore a sinner by nature and by choice and is in need of God's saving grace.

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, the only Mediator between God and humanity. Through His perfect life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and ascension, He accomplished salvation for all who repent and believe in Him.

Salvation

We believe salvation is entirely by God's grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Those whom God saves are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, justified, adopted into God's family, progressively sanctified, and will be glorified when Christ returns.

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates sinners, indwells every believer, produces spiritual growth, equips the Church for ministry, and empowers believers to live for God's glory.

The Church

We believe Jesus Christ is the Head of His Church. The local church is a covenant community of baptized believers devoted to worship, prayer, biblical preaching, discipleship, fellowship, Baptism, the Lord's Supper, and the proclamation of the Gospel. Christ has given His church elders to shepherd and deacons to serve, while the congregation faithfully participates in the life and ministry of the church.

Baptism and the Lord's Supper

We believe believer's baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper are the two ordinances instituted by Christ. They proclaim the Gospel, strengthen believers, and testify to our union with Christ.

Christian Living

We believe every Christian is called to pursue holiness, love one another, faithfully serve the Church, and proclaim the Gospel through a life of obedience empowered by the Holy Spirit.

The Return of Christ

We believe Jesus Christ will personally, visibly, and gloriously return to judge the living and the dead, establish His everlasting Kingdom, and make all things new. We joyfully await the resurrection of the dead, the New Heavens and the New Earth, and the eternal reign of Christ with His redeemed people.
